Day Kimball Healthcare Names Amanda Chambers, Speech Language Pathologist, Employee of the Month for April

Amanda Chambers, speech language pathologist for Day Kimball Healthcare Center in Danielson, has been named employee of the month for April by Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH).

Chambers worked as a speech language pathologist in a skilled nursing facility prior to joining DKH in October 2018. In her role, Chambers evaluates and treats a variety of communication disorders in pediatric and geriatric patients including speech, language, voice, fluency, swallowing, and cognition to help improve their quality of life.

According to Chamber’s supervisor, Patti Bernier, director of ancillary services, Day Kimball Hospital, “Amanda has the perfect combination of commitment to the organization, her patients, and her profession. Her dynamic personality shines through when working with children and the elderly. We are proud to call Amanda our April Employee of the Month.”

In response to being named employee of the month, Chambers said, “I am honored and grateful for this opportunity.”

When asked what she likes most about her job, Chambers said, “The ability to work with various populations of patients in different areas of their lives; from helping a child with a language delay or assisting an elderly patient with memory impairment.”

Chambers was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. She was raised in a small New England town at the base of Okemo Mountain in Ludlow, Vermont where she grew up snowboarding and skiing since the age of five. Chambers currently resides in Taftville, Connecticut with her fiancé, Andrew, and her dog, Tank.

Chambers graduated from the University of Connecticut in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences. She continued her education at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York where she earned a Master of Science in Education in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Chambers also holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is Lee Silverman Voice Therapy Certified.
