Meet Dr. Meryl J. Reichman, board-certified and fellowship-trained endocrinologist who loves the outdoors. It is hard to determine whether she is a skier who practices medicine for a living, or a doctor who loves to ski.

Dr. Reichman learned to downhill ski on the slopes of New York at the age of 10 and fondly remembers riding the T-bar and Poma lifts on the mountain with her uncle, younger brother, and cousins.

Donning ski attire and sliding down snow covered hills has been her ritual for nearly 40 years – as an adolescent, a med student, a mother, and an endocrinologist. Along the way, Dr. Reichman taught her two daughters, now 23 and 28, to ride the slopes too. From the stunning mountain views to the breathtaking backdrops, everything about the tranquil setting makes it her favorite way to spend time with her family and retreat from practicing medicine.

As a person who likes to help others, a career in health care was a natural choice for Dr. Reichman. She received a bachelor of science in biology from Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY, in 1987, followed by a doctorate of medicine from New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY, in 1993. She completed her internal medicine residency and endocrinology fellowship training at Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, NY.

Dr. Reichman established a private practice in Newburgh, New York in 1998. In 2008, the practice merged into Caremount Medical Group, where she continued to serve as a clinical endocrinologist prior to joining Day Kimball Medical Group.

Board-certified in endocrinology and metabolism, Dr. Reichman brings more than 22 years of clinical experience to Day Kimball and provides all aspects of endocrinology care. Her clinical interests include type 1 and type 2 diabetes management, osteoporosis, thyroid disorders, and general endocrinology.

Dr. Reichman was named a “Hudson Valley Top Doctor” in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and is member of the Endocrine Society, the American Diabetes Association, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. She is passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of her patients and providing an individualized approach to care.

Off the clock, Dr. Reichman also enjoys hiking and kayaking and looks forward to exploring the hills of Northeast Connecticut as she settles into her new home in Norwichtown. She has relocated to Connecticut to be closer to her growing family and looks forward to working closely with her patients to provide patient-centered, quality endocrine care.

1. I grew up in: I grew up in Valley Stream (Long Island), New York.
2. Who’s on your playlist? Music from the 70s and 80s.
3. What’s your favorite movie? When Harry Met Sally.
4. What’s your favorite color? Yellow. It’s a happy color.
5. What’s your favorite sports team? I was a Mets fan until moving to Hudson Valley, New York, when I became a Yankees fan. Now, obviously, I will need to transition to the Red Sox.
6. Who is your hero? My mentor in fellowship, Dr. Merville Marshall, was an inspiration to me becoming an endocrinologist. The best advice he gave me was to learn from your patients.
7. Pets? Yes, I have a 13-year-old Jack Russell dog (who thinks he’s 5-years-old), named Java.
8. Do you have children? I have two beautiful daughters, 23 and 28.
9. What are your hobbies? Downhill skiing, hiking, and kayaking.
10. What are you most passionate about? I personally find that endocrinology is a very rewarding field. I enjoy engaging my clients in awareness of their medical condition, treatment, and care plan.
11. Name something on your bucket list. I would love to travel to Australia and New Zealand.
12. People would be surprised to know that: I love to ski!
13. What’s your favorite place in Northeast Connecticut? Yet to be determined! I have only just started to explore after relocating from Hudson Valley, New York to Norwichtown, Connecticut in February 2021.
